  • If travelling by car via the M6, turn off at junction 36 signposted Barrow-in-Furness.
  • Follow the A590 towards Barrow-in-Furness.
  • Pass through the town of Ulverston and continue toward Barrow-in-Furness.
  • Turn left off the A590 at Lindal. Signposted Candle Factory.
  • Follow road past Candle Factory and on past farm on right.
  • Turn left at crossroads.
  • We are located on your left 200m after the crossroads.

Orchard Cottage is an excellent base for walking, sightseeing or just unwinding. A short drive from the cottage will bring you to the market town of Ulverston, the birthplace of Stan Laurel (of Laurel and Hardy fame). Coniston, Windermere and the Duddon Valley are within 20 minutes drive and the surrounding villages with traditional pubs, quality craft workshops and tearooms have much to offer. The majestic ruins of Furness Abbey should not be missed and lovers of wildlife will be attracted to the nearby animal park and to the nature reserve of Walney Island ...
